What Makes a Great Association Manager? Can You Help Us Hire One?

In the past we’ve successfully drawn from other related industries, such as hospitality or club management and public administration and other professional roles that require some similar skills, such as teachers, trainers and executive directors of non-for-profit associations. Any successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following competencies: Communication, Financial & business acumen, Organization, Vendor and project management, Customer Service, Problem-solving, and a Results Orientation.

We generally look for a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university. Our ideal candidate would have industry experience and the CMCA designation, but neither is absolutely required. We have successfully transitioned professionals from other industries who possess strong skill sets in the needed areas and a positive attitude.
